Baladi bread(عيش بـَلـَدي eish baladi), or country bread, is a type of leavened flatbread from Egyptian cuisine.
Baladi bread is made from a rather wet dough. Dusting a baking surface generously can help prevent sticking.

Ingredients
- 2 cup + extra whole wheat flour or all-purpose wheat flour
- 1 tsp yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup + ¾ cup water
Directions
- combine yeast, ¼ cup water
- combine 2 cup flour, salt
- gradually mix in yeast water and remaining ¾ cup water
- knead into dough
- cover and rest dough until risen, about 1 hour
- spread flour on baking surface
- separate dough into pieces and spread on baking surface
- rest dough about 30 minutes
- bake until puffed up, 5 to 10 minutes at 475°F
- flip and bake until lightly browned, about 5 minutes (optional)
- let cool
- serve
