Hegu Waterfall (合谷瀑布), Motian Waterfall (摩天瀑布), and Pipa Cave Waterfall (枇杷洞瀑布)

By the old Pingxi(平溪—píng xī) railway line, there is a fun trail from Sandiaoling(三貂嶺—sāndiāolǐng) to an impressive waterfall system. The trail is somewhat popular for hiking groups from Taipei or elsewhere in Taiwan, though it usually isn’t overly crowded.

The first and largest waterfall is Hegu Waterfall(合谷瀑布—hégǔ pùbù). The waterfall can be seen in the distants from viewpoints on the trail.

The trail continues to two overhanging waterfalls. Motian Waterfall(摩天瀑布—mótiān pùbù) features a bathing boulder.

The upper waterfall is called Pipa Cave Waterfall(枇杷洞瀑布—pípádòng pùbù). Behind the waterfall is a sort of weeping cave arch.

Waterfalls in the Pingxi area include Hegu Waterfall(合谷瀑布), Motian Waterfall(摩天瀑布), Pipa Cave Waterfall(枇杷洞瀑布), Cukeng Falls(粗坑瀑布), Youkeng Falls(幼坑瀑布) Shifen Waterfall(十分瀑布), Wanggu Waterfall(望古瀑布), Lingjiao Falls(嶺腳瀑布), Gemini Falls(双子瀑布), Wormhole Waterfall(蚯蚓坑瀑布)
